Saudi Arabia has captured the world's attention with the announcement of Vision 2030, an ambitious agenda aimed at restructuring the country's economy. Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” includes the government's plans for changing the kingdom's reliance on oil to generate revenue. Furthermore, huge amount of funds is planned to be invested towards “Vision” 2030”, initiated by the kingdom's ruler Prince Mohammed.
The vision further includes the government’s strategies to define how the country will spend its abundant resources and manage its historically high reliance on oil. Furthermore, the country is making plans to combat climate change which will require the country to diversify its economy into new sectors.
Saudi Arabia Plans to Become a Global Transportation and Logistics Hub by 2030
Saudi Arabia’s government is planning to transform Riyadh Airport. The new airport plans included the development of six parallel runways which will be designed with a capacity of 120 million passengers by 2030. The new airport will be stretched to cover an area of 57 square kilometers (22.01 square miles), including the current King Khaled airport.
Saudi Arabia's air transportation, infrastructure, and logistics sector generated $856.53 million in revenue in 2021. The Saudi government's new aviation plan is expected to handle 185 million passengers, process 3.5 million tonnes of cargo, and generate nearly 103,000 direct and indirect jobs.
