Breza Coal Mine in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was the largest underground mine in Bosnia and Herzegovina, producing approximately 1.97 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Breza Coal Mine is owned by JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. Sarajevo. The second largest underground mine with an estimated 0.44 mmtpa of ROM, was the Mramor Coal Mine located in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Mramor Coal Mine is owned by JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. Sarajevo.
Zenica Mine located in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the third-largest mine, the Haljinici Underground Mine located in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the fourth-largest mine, and the Haljinici Coal Mine located in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the fifth-largest mine, with an estimated ROM production of 0.38 mmtpa, 0.37 mmtpa and 0.22 mmtpa, respectively, in 2021. The Zenica Mine is owned by JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. Sarajevo, the Haljinici Underground Mine is owned by JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. Sarajevo and the Haljinici Coal Mine is owned by Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine.
The five largest underground mines, i.e., Breza Coal Mine, Mramor Coal Mine, Zenica Mine, Haljinici Underground Mine, and Haljinici Coal Mine, cumulatively produced approximately 3.37 mmtpa of ROM in 2021.
