Ethiopia is the 31st largest country in the world and Ethiopia is the 14th most populous country, so its population is consistent with the size of the whole country. Addis Ababa, the largest city in Ethiopia with a population of 2.7 million, could exceed 3 million in the near future. This is the only city in the country that has reached this milestone. However, there are many other cities that make up the rest of the country's large population. There are nine cities in all, each with at least 100,000 inhabitants. There are also 83 cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants. These cities, like other cities and small towns, span nine provincial states of Ethiopia.
