With about 2.5 million inhabitants in the capital Luanda, located on the Atlantic coast, it is the country's most important prominent city. Huambo is the second-largest city in the country, with a population of 226,177, followed by Lobito with 207,957. Huambo is located in the central highlands of the country near the Kunene River, Lobito is on the Atlantic coast and runs east of the country from Lobito and is the main hub of the Benguela Railway. Other important cities in Angola include Benguela with 151,235 inhabitants and Lucapa with about 125,000 inhabitants.
