ESAs provide a shared understanding of Greenwashing and caution on associated Risks

The Progress Reports on Greenwashing in the Financial Sector are published by the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs; EBA, EIOPA, and ESMA). view the EIOPA, ESMA, and EBA reports. In these studies, the ESAs present an overarching framework for understanding greenwashing that is applicable to market participants in all areas under their various purviews, including banking, insurance, pensions, and financial markets.
In May 2024, the ESAs will release their final greenwashing findings, and they'll also take into account their final recommendations, which could include modifying the EU legislative framework.
