HTC Corp (HTC) is a consumer electronics company based in Taiwan. It operates mainly in the areas of research, design, manufacturing, and sale of smart mobiles and virtual reality devices. The revenue received from these operations makes up more than 90% of its total revenue.
Its main product categories are Virtual Reality, 5G, Smartphones, and Connected Devices (accessories).In FY2021, HTC sold 1,030 thousand units, aggregating both domestic and export sales as compared to 1,727 thousand units in FY2020 YoY. The overall business performance was put under pressure since FY2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic which affected the overall sales.
In the VR/AR (Virtual Reality/Augmented reality) category, it has the HTC VIVE VR Headset with the Room-Scale VR technique. In FY2021, it also launched two types of new-generation VR headsets with 5K display resolution and a wide 120-degree field of view (FOV). It also has the VIVE Pro series, VIVE Pro 2 which has high-end PC-based VR games, creation, and experience, VIVE Focus 3 the standalone VR featuring a 5K resolution that provides total solutions for corporate VR applications. VIVE Pro 2 is compatible with its Steam VR systems and peripheral accessories like Tracker 1.0, Tracker 2.0, VIVE Controller, VIVE Wireless Module, or VIVE Tracker of all generations and its newly launched VIVE Facial Tracker.
The VIVERSE business unit (formerly HTC Content & Platforms) is HTC’s metaverse ecosystem that operates through the VIVEPORT platform and includes devices like VIVE Flow, Skyworth S802, and QIYU SE AIO, OpenVR in VIVE Cosmos and VIVE Pro/Pro 2.
G Reigns (formerly HTC 5G Solutions) is the company’s 5G network which provides services such as companion apps and devices, cross-platform SDKs (Software Development Kit), and immersive terminals, to its business partners and 5G phone users. In FY2022, HTC plans to develop new 5G use cases that combine VR/AR, camera, blockchain, and AI(Artificial Intelligence) technologies.
The HTC Smartphones and Connected devices business unit focuses on creating devices to support its VIVERSE platform. In FY2021, it launched the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G phone, its first HTC phone with ARCore support, certified by Google, with a 5000mAh battery and 6.7” FHD+(Full High Definition) 90Hz display.
