Casio Computer (Casio) is a multinational electronics manufacturing company which is headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Its major products include Timepieces, Electronic Dictionaries, Calculators, Label Printers, Electronic Musical Instruments, Handheld Terminals, Cash Registers, Management Support Systems, Data Projectors, Formed Parts, and Molds. The group has three reportable segments Consumer, System Equipment, and Others segments.

In the timepiece business, its core product is the G-SHOCK brand. In FY2021, Casio sold 8.2 million units of its G-Shock watches as compared to 10 million units in FY2020 YoY. Its sales and profits fell during the year due to the suspension of its store operations and the restrictions on visits to public places due to COVID-19. Going forward, Casio plans to expand the G-Shock brand in the digital marketing segment. Also, the company is strategizing to work on technology development to create products with inbuilt sensing devices and better design expression.

In the area of scientific calculators, Casio’s products are tailored to the different environments and needs of about 100 countries and regions. During FY2021, it sold around 13.4 million units as compared to 23 million units in FY2020 YoY. Its sales were highly impacted due to school closures and both revenues and profits declined. As the adoption of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) for education accelerates, Casio plans to focus on software, for instance by providing a comprehensive learning platform that can help classes go smoothly and make lessons easy to understand. Using the platform, both teachers and students can ask and answer questions, and make corrections.

In March 2021, Casio upgraded to an integrated global CASIO website, and in April 2021, it linked it to its own e-commerce site starting with Japan. In the coming years, the company plans to further strengthen e-commerce websites worldwide one by one, with a target of raising the sales ratio of its own e-commerce from the current 3% to 10% in FY2024.
