Clear Channel is one of the world’s largest out-of-home advertising companies and a global out-of-home advertising company with a scaled presence in the US and Europe. Total digital revenue by both segments in FY2021 represented $770 million an increase of 40.7% from the previous year (FY2020).

The company delivers its clients' marketing campaigns locally, nationally, and internationally with more than 500,000 advertising displays in 26 countries. Investments in technology and the globalization of its digital footprint proved advantageous during the COVID-19-related economic downturn because it gave them the flexibility to quickly scale up advertising campaigns. The company also saw increases in mobility and positive trends in revenue for each of its segments.

Clear Channel: Digital Revenue by Segment

Clear Channel is one of the largest out-of-home advertising companies in the U.S., with operations in 41 of the 50 largest U.S. markets. America’s total digital revenue increased by 39% during 2021 compared to 2020. As of December 31, 2021, the company had approximately 69,000 advertising displays in the Americas, including more than 1,500 digital billboards. Americas segment generated 52% of its total revenue in 2021, which is generated through both local and national sales channels and is derived from the sale of advertising copy displayed on its printed and digital displays.

Europe’s total digital revenue increased by 42.8% during 2021 compared to 2020. As of December 31, 2021, its portfolio included approximately 430,000 advertising displays in Europe, including more than 17,500 digital displays. The company’s Europe segment generated 45% of its total revenue in 2021, which is primarily generated from the sale of advertising space on street furniture displays, billboards, and retail displays.

Clear Channel’s 2021 consolidated revenue increased by 20.8% compared to FY2020, which was driven by sharp growth in its digital activities as the company continues to recover from the effects of COVID-19, they have seen increases in revenue in both reportable business segments. Total digital revenue by both segments in FY2020 represented $547.3 million a decrease of 25.5% from the previous year (FY2020). The company is concentrating on carrying out its digital transformation, as well as its efforts to innovate and update how they operate and integrate its solutions with its partners and customers.
