Colquijirca Mine in Pasco, was the largest lead-producing mine in Peru, producing approximately 21.5 thousand tonnes of lead and an estimated 3 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Run-of-Mine (ROM) in 2021. The Colquijirca Mine is owned by Compania De Minas Buenaventura SAA. The second largest lead-producing mine with an estimated lead production of 18.3 thousand tonnes and an estimated 1.2 mmtpa of ROM, was the Chungar Mining Unit located in Pasco. The Chungar Mining Unit is owned by Volcan Compania Minera SAA, and is due to operate until 2027.
