The government expenditure in Italy was $1 trillion in 2021. Between 2018 and 2021, the government expenditure was highest in 2021 at $1 trillion and lowest in 2019 at $971 billion. The government expenditure increased by 6.1% on a YoY basis in 2021 and increased by 6.7% between 2018 and 2021.

The other segment includes spending on general public services, public order and safety, economic affairs, environmental protection, housing and community amenities, and recreation, culture and religion, and other government expenditure.
