The number of active job postings in the Business and Consumer Services sector of United States decreased by 2.23% MoM, and decreased by 17.09% since October 2023, reaching 117,495 active job postings in January 2024.
A total of 44,920 new jobs were posted in January 2024, witnessing a decrease of 4.36% as compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 47,598 jobs were closed in the same month implying that companies took out 15.16% fewer jobs than the month earlier. For the period from October 2023 to January 2024, the number of new jobs posted decreased by 20.19% and the number of jobs closed decreased by 21.96%
In terms of Compound Monthly Growth Rate (CMGR) between October 2023 and January 2024, the number of new jobs posted observed a negative growth rate of 7.24%, the number of active job postings observed a negative growth rate of 6.05% and the number of jobs closed observed a negative growth rate of 7.93%. Between October 2023 and January 2024, the average number of jobs posted stood at 50,960, number of jobs closed stood at 58,189 and number of active jobs stood at 127,170.
