A Rollway Risk Has Led Nissan to Recall More Than 200000 Pickup Trucks

  • Nissan is bringing back more than 200,000 pickup vehicles because it's possible for them to roll out of park
  • When the trucks are in park, the transmission parking pawl, which prevents them from moving, may not engage, allowing them to roll away
  • According to Nissan, this voluntary recall campaign is distinct from the recall that was announced in June for specific pickup trucks

Nissan Frontiers and Titans Recalled

Nissan is recalling more than 200,000 pickup trucks in the US because there is a possibility that they could leave park and roll away. Nissan Frontiers and Titans from the model years 2020 through 2023—a total of 203,223 vehicles—are the models that are impacted. Apparently, the number of Nissan vehicles manufactured collectively in the United States increased significantly this year 2022 when compared to the last year 2021, according to GlobalData.

The transmission parking pawl, which stops the trucks from moving, might not engage when the trucks are in park, so they could roll away. Every time a vehicle is parked, owners are recommended to use the parking brake. According to Nissan, this voluntary recall campaign is distinct from the recall that was announced in June for specific pickup trucks. Over 180,000 Frontiers and Titans were recalled by the firm between 2020 and 2022 due to the same risk.
