Mr. Daniel J. Houston has been the Chairman of the group since May 2016 and is its President and Chief Executive Officer since August 2015. He also serves as the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Principal Life Insurance Company. Prior to this, he served as the Chief Operating Officer and President of the company from November 2014 to August 2015. Mr. Houston joined Principal Life Insurance Company in 1984 and served in various management positions including Senior Vice President and President of Retirement and Income Solutions.

Ms. Deanna D. Strable has been an Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the group since February 2017. Prior to this, she served as an Executive Vice President in 2016 and President of US Insurance Solutions at Principal Financial Group in 2015. Previously, she held various actuarial and management positions within group and its insurance business from 1995 to 2016. Ms. Strable joined the group as an Actuarial Assistant in 1990.

Ms. Kathleen B. Kay has been the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of the company since May 2020. Previously, she served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Pacific Gas and Electric Company from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, she worked as Enterprise Chief Technology Officer at SunTrust from 2012 to 2015. Earlier, she worked as the Senior Vice President of Business Technology Services of Comerica Bank from 2007 to 2012.

Ms. Bethany A. Wood is the Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of the company. Previously, she served as the Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of the individual businesses at Guardian Life Insurance. She also served as second vice president, life, and agency marketing at Guardian since 2010. She holds over 30 years of experience as a Brand and Marketing leader and held various roles in the consumer-packaged goods, healthcare, and financial services industries at Johnson & Johnson, Frito-Lay, and MassMutual.

Mr. Kenneth A. McCullum has been an Executive Vice President of the company since 2023 and Chief Risk Officer of the company since 2020. Prior to this, he served as Vice President and Chief Actuary at the company from 2015 to 2020. He also served as an Executive Vice President at Delaware Life Insurance Company from 2013 to 2015.
