Chairman Executive BoardMr. Paul Desmarais, Jr has been the Chairman of the company since 1996. Previously, he served as the Co-Chief Executive Officer of the company from 1996 to February 2020. Prior to that, he worked for Power Financial as the Chairman of the Executive Committee from 2006 to 2008, Executive Chairman from 1990 to 2005, Executive Vice-Chairman from 1989 to 1990, President and Chief Operating Officer from 1986 to 1989, and Vice-President from 1984 to 1986. He is also the Executive Co-Chairman of Power Financial since 2008. During 1991-1996, he served as the Vice-Chairman of Power Corporation from 1991 to 1996. Mr. Desmarais is also a Director of Power group companies in North America, which includes Great-West Life, IGM Financial, Power Financial, Great-West Lifeco, Great-West Lifeco, Putnam Investments, Canada Life, Investors Group and Mackenzie. He also serves as a Director of Total, Lafarge and SGS and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Groupe Bruxelles Lambert.
Andre Desmarais
Deputy Chairman Executive BoardMr. Andre Desmarais has been the Deputy Chairman of the company since 2008. Previously, he served as the Co-Chief Executive Officer and President of the company since 1996 to 2020. Earlier, he served as an Executive Co-Chairman of Power Financial from 2015 to 2020. Prior to this, he served as a Special Assistant to the Minister of Justice of Canada and Institutional Investment Counsellor at Richardson Greenshields Securities Ltd. He is also a Director of various Power group companies operating in North America, which includes Great-West Lifeco, Power Financial, Great-West Lifeco, Canada Life, IGM Financial, Investors Group, Putnam Investments, and Mackenzie; and Director and Vice-Chairman of Pargesa in Europe. Mr. Desmarais is also Honorary Chairman of the Canada China Business Council, member of the Chairman’s International Advisory Council of the Americas Society, Chairman of the Fondation Baxter & Alma Ricard, and member of various China-based organizations.
