NSD supports a wide range of customers such as finance, manufacturing, telecommunication, commerce, and public sectors. The company classifies its business operations into four reportable segments: System Development Business (Financial IT), System Development Business (Industry & Infrastructure IT), System Development Business (IT Infrastructure Construction), and Solution Business.

The R&D arm of NSD focuses on the development of its products, services and solutions along with the enhancement of its existing services. The company’s research projects focus on multiple technologies including AI-driven image analysis, natural language analysis, augmented reality, virtual reality, blockchain and user interface. Taking into account the issues faced by its clients, the company is focusing on developing its own algorithms. To accelerate innovation in business, NSD also entered joint research projects with multiple entities. Under joint research projects, the company and partner entities share technology, knowledge and resources with each other. The research division of the NSD also carries out projects in collaboration with Advanced Technology Business Division of the company to commercialize ideas. In FY2023, the company incurred expenses of JPY190.4 million on R&D, which as a percentage of revenue, stood at 0.2%.
