Ms. Belen Garijo has been the Chief Executive Officer of the company since 2021. Previously, she served as Vice-Chair and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the company. Ms. Garijo also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare in 2015 and Chief Operating Officer of the Biopharma business since 2011. Before joining Merck, she served as the Senior Vice President of Global Operations Europe at Sanofi-Aventis and Global Integration Leader of Genzyme after its acquisition by Sanofi.

Ms. Helene von Roeder has been the Chief Financial Officer of the company since July 2023. Prior to this, she served as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Transformation Officer at Vonovia SE. Previously, she served as the Head of Global Capital Markets for Germany and Austria at Morgen Stanley, and Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse, Germany, Austria and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Mr. Kai Beckmann has been the Chief Executive Officer of Electronics Business and a Director of the company since 2017. Prior to this, he served as the Chief Administration Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Merck. From 2004 to 2007, he served as the Managing Director of the Merck companies in Malaysia and Singapore, and prior to that, he served as a senior executive for the Information Management and Consulting unit from 1999 to 2004. He started his career at Merck in 1989 as an IT system consultant.

Mr. Peter Guenter has been the Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare of the company since 2021. prior to this, he served as the Chief Executive Officer at Almirall. Before that, Mr. Peter worked with Sanofi for 22 years as the Executive Vice President of Global Diabetes and Cardiovascular business and a member of the Executive Committee since 2013.

Mr. Matthias Heinzel has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Life Science business of the company since 2021. Prior to this, he served as the Executive Board Member and President of the Nutrition & Biosciences business at DuPont.
