R&D Overview
CPC's research and development (R&D) plays a key value in both technology innovation and company sustainability. There are three major institutes responsible for the R&D activities of the company in their respective fields, that include: the Exploration & Development Research Institute (EDRI) in Miaoli, the Refining & Manufacturing Research Institute (RMRI) in Chiayi, and the Green Technology Research Institute (GTRI) in Kaohsiung. The EDRI's primary areas of interest include the study of domestic and international geological and stratigraphic data for the assessment of oil and gas reserves, technical advancements in exploration, drilling, and extraction methods, environmental monitoring, the development of geothermal resources, and carbon sequestration. The RMRI is a key player in the research and development of high-value-added petrochemicals, the advancement of the circular economy, the reduction of pollution, the enhancement of refinery construction or design, and the resolution of production issues that arise on-site. The GTRI is tasked with advanced project pilot production and is devoted to R&D in the fields of biofuels, renewable energy, and green materials. In FY2022, the company spent TWD4,094 million on its R&D.
