BioNTech SE: Executives

Mr. Ugur Sahin has been the Chief Executive Officer of the company since 2008. Previously, he served as the Professor (W3) in Translational Oncology & Immunology at Johannes Gutenberg University. Currently, he also serves as the Chair of the Scientific Management Board of the Helmholtz Institute for Translational Oncology.

Mr. Jens Holstein has been the Chief Financial Officer of the company since 2021. Prior to this, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of MorphoSys AG. Mr. Holstein also served as the Chief Financial Officer and various management roles at Fresenius SE Group including Chief Financial Officer for the EME (Europe/Middle East) region and as Managing Director of Fresenius Kabi Deutschland GmbH, Chief Financial Officer of Fresenius Kabi Asia Pacific Ltd., Managing Director of Fresenius ProServe GmbH, and Chief Financial Officer and Labor Director of Wittgensteiner Kliniken AG.

Mr. Sierk Poetting is the Chief Operating Officer of the company. Prior to this, he served in various positions at Novartis including Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for the Sandoz Division in North America from 2012-2014. Previously, he also served as a consultant at McKinsey & Company

Mr. Ryan Richardson has been the Chief Strategy Officer of the company since 2020. Prior to this, he served as the Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategy of the company since 2018. Mr. Richardson also served as the Executive Director and Vice President in the Global Healthcare Investment Banking team of J.P. Morgan.

Mr. James Ryan has been the Chief Legal Officer of the company since September 2023. Prior to this, he served as a General Counsel and Senior Vice President Legal and IP at BioNTech SE.
