Mr. Alan Hirzel has been the Chief Executive officer and Director of the company since 2014. Previously, he served as the Chief Marketing Officer of Abcam. Prior to joining Abcam, he spent 14 years with Bain & Company. Mr. Hirzel was a trustee for the UK National Citizen Service Trust.

Mr. Michael Baldock has been the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Abcam since February 2020. Prior to this, he held senior leadership roles at Drexel Burnham Lambert Group, Lazard, HSBC, Bentley Health Care, and SG Warburg.

Mr. Peter Allen has been the Non Executive Board Chairman of the company since June 2018. He has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He worked in senior finance roles at several companies worldwide including L'Oreal, IMG and Associated British Ports before being appointed as the Chief Financial Officer of Celltech Group plc in 1992. Mr. Peter served as the Chief Financial Officer of Celltech Group till 2004. From 2003, he served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Celltech until its sale to UCB SA in 2004. Prior to this, he served as the Chairman from 2007 to 2013 and interim Chief Executive Officer from 2010 to 2011 at ProStrakan Group plc. Previously, he served as the Chairman of AIM-listed companies Advanced Medical Solutions Plc and privately owned Oxford Nanopore Technologies Ltd. He also serves as the Non-Executive Director of privately-owned Itesso Ltd.
