Business Description

Schweizerische Nationalbank (SNB) is the central bank of Switzerland. It conducts Switzerland's monetary policy as an independent central bank. It has 13 agencies operated by cantonal banks and has six representative offices in Lucerne, Basel, Lugano, Geneva, St Gallen, and Lausanne. It acts as a banker to the banks, and with various federal agencies, in its capacity as a banker to the Confederation. SNB's assets mainly consist of foreign exchange and gold reserves as well as financial assets in Swiss francs. SNB’s responsibilities are classified under nine categories: Price Stability, Implementation of Monetary Policy, Cash Supply and Distribution, Cashless Payment Transactions, Asset Management, Financial System Stability, International Monetary Cooperation Banker to the Confederation, and Statistics.
