Tower Semiconductor’s hiring increases by 126% in the US and Israel to meet global chip demand, finds GlobalData

Tower Semiconductor is ramping up fab manufacturing in the US and Israel to meet global demand, according to its recent hiring activity tracked by GlobalData. The data and analytics company notes that Tower Semiconductor increased the number of active job advertisements by over 126% from 30 August 2020 to 127 in August 2021. The majority of these were for talent acquisition scouts to strengthen its skilled workforce and engineers to support its customers’ fab and fabless requirements.

Ajay Thalluri, Business Fundamentals Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “Tower Semiconductor is looking to increase production capacity for integrated circuits such as CMOS sensors. This will help it meet global demand for chips commonly used in consumer devices such as mobile phones and cameras. Hiring is likely to remain strong as the company focuses on fab manufacturing, and the company is expected to start hiring in Italy following its announced partnership with STMicroelectronics for accelerated fab production.”

Tower Semiconductor has been hiring talent with experience in mixed-signal and power management since December 2020 and is looking to develop this further with devices and technologies that can be used for mixed-signal and smart power management, from concept to mass production. A recent listing for a ‘Device Engineer’ highlights that the company is looking for talent based in Israel, but with communication skills in Hebrew and English.

Thalluri adds: “In May 2021, the company announced innovation of galvanic capacitor technology integrated with 0.18um power management and mixed-signal platforms. The tech enhances safety and power efficiency for applications in the automotive, green power and industrial markets.

“The company is also scaling up by enhancing vendor relations with renewals and initiating new agreements to improve operational efficiency and in aid business performance. Its ‘Senior Buyer’ role also shows that the company is innovating procurement process for fab manufacturing process.“

A US-based job for ‘Human Resources Business Partner’ hints at Tower Semiconductor’s global talent acquisition efforts. Also, a June 2021 listing for ‘Talent Acquisition Specialist’ for its office at Jezreel Valley, Israel, shows that the company is bracing to recruit talent to shape the organization for future requirements in the country where it has two manufacturing facilities. The company is also designing organizational development (OD) and talent development (TD) strategies to drive its vision and mission.
