Lori Shemek top health and wellness influencer in Q2 2021, reveals GlobalData

Nutrition and weight loss expert Lori Shemek emerged as the top influencer among the health and wellness experts on Twitter during the second quarter (Q2) of 2021, according to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

Shemek was also recognized as the top health and wellness global influencer for 2020. She largely shares updates on health, nutrition, and weight loss. She is also producer of a weight loss podcast ‘The podcast that burns fat’.

GlobalData’s Health and Wellness Influencer Platform, which tracks about 150 leading industry experts and their discussions pertaining to the emerging trends, pain areas, new fields of innovation and other popular areas on Twitter, reveals Andre Picard, health columnist at The Globe and Mail, as the next top influencer with an influencer score of 76, followed by Yoni Freedhoff, Co-founder and Medical Director at Constant Health, with an influencer score of 66. He is specialist on weight management counselling and nutritional counselling.

‘COVID-19’, ‘plant-based’ and ‘weight loss’ emerged as the most mentioned trends among health and wellness influencer discussions on Twitter during Q2 2021.

Smitarani Tripathy, Influencer Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent economic implications have negatively affected the mental well-being of several people. Kids are most impacted by the pandemic due to the prolonged lockdown and school closures, causing distress and despair. In line with this, a significant spike was observed among the influencer discussions during Q2, 2021.”

Plant-based emerged as another most mentioned trend, led by surge in discussions related to how adoption of plant-based diet can have positive impact on health and the environment. On occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June, health and wellness experts have shared several healthy, delicious plant-based recipes.

Weight loss is another top trend around which influencer conversations surged by 20% in Q2 2021, compared to the previous quarter. Health and wellness experts have shared their diet tips, including healthy snacks, ketogenic diet and other tips to achieve weigh loss goals.
