Investments in LTE and LTE-A roll outs will boost mobile subscriptions in Ecuador

4G’s share of total mobile subscriptions in Ecudaor will grow to 76% by 2023, supported by ongoing LTE and LTE-A network expansions to underserved areas by MNOs, says GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

LTE-Advance services offers up to 50% higher browsing speed than 4G LTE, for services such as online games and streaming videos. Claro launched LTE-Advance services in 2018 in the following Ecuador cities – Ambato, Babahoyo, Quito, Guayaquil, Machala, Ibarra, and Quevedo. Claro launched in April 2018 – to improve mobile data services in the country and to drive mobile subscriptions.

Leandro Agion, Technology Analyst at GlobalData, commented, “Mobile operators in Ecuador will add a combined 2 million subscriptions within the next five years. Ultimately this will be driven by the increasing adoption of smartphones, and gradual expansion of wireless connectivity across the country, increasing the country’s total mobile subscriptions to 17.5 million by the end of 2023.”
