The government expenditure in South Africa was $106 billion in 2021. Between 2018 and 2021, the government expenditure was highest in 2019 at $116 billion and lowest in 2020 at $94billion. The government expenditure increased by 12.6% on a YoY basis in 2021 and decreased by 6.1% between 2018 and 2021.

The other segment includes spending on general public services, public order and safety, economic affairs, environmental protection, housing and community amenities, and recreation, culture and religion, and other government expenditure.
