In terms of the geographic split, 5 out of 10 of the world’s top 10 financial advisors in the power industry are headquartered in North America, whereas the remaining 5 are based in Europe. They employed a total of 1,541,064 people in 2021. The EDP-Sunseap deal was one of the major deals in the power sector in 2021. Credit Suisse acted as the exclusive financial advisor, while Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow acted as legal counsel to EDPR. Berenberg and PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd acted as financial advisors and Hogan Lovells acted as legal advisor to AKASOL. Blitz F21-842 AG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BorgWarner Inc acquired 89.08% of AKASOL’s outstanding shares following the completion of the tender offer. As part of the agreement, a wholly-owned subsidiary of BorgWarner launched a voluntary public takeover offer at EUR120 per share in cash for all outstanding shares of AKASOL. The deal was completed in Q2 2021.
