The movies & entertainment market value chain can be divided into four distinct stages: content creation, publishing, distribution, and end-users. This market is characterized by large media conglomerates wielding significant power in verticals, although little integration between stages. 

Content Creators: Content creation for media can vary - it can be individuals, such as writers, artists, and director, and collective organizations. 

Publishing: Publishers consist of distributors, which are usually large firms with international reach. Studios such as Paramount Pictures and Universal are owned by Viacom and Comcast respectively. 

Distributors: Distributors demonstrate a high degree of vertical integration, such as Amazon being active in publishing and retailing. 

End-User: End-users tend be consumers. Many individual consumers have very little buyer power and will generally have to pay with varying degrees depending on the market segment.
